It depicts twin sisters in a closely seated position, in a universal expression of sisterhood.  Clearly, the older twin, who appears slightly taller, is protective of her younger sister.  The Shona people of Zimbabwe have a thousand-year history of producing sculptures centered around a fundamental human experience such as family, love, life and nature.

With the Shona's viewpoint that every object has a spirit, and that the spirit in a given piece of stone needs only to be revealed, this beautiful sculpture takes on more significance.  

This sculpture was acquired from the artist by a collector in Oakland, California and later acquired by WAJ Collectibles.
